Amy B. Dodell, Attorney at Law
Amy B. Dodell, Attorney at Law
I established my law firm to serve the community because I truly enjoy helping others with their legal issues. I developed a passion for the practice of law at a young age when I began my career in the legal field as a file clerk at the age of 16. I trained as a legal secretary while in high school and earned my paralegal certificate after I completed my B.S. in Political Science from Arizona State University. I spent many years working as a paralegal while raising my family and helping my husband with his dental practice. As my kids grew up, I eventually returned to Phoenix School of Law, which later became Arizona Summit Law School, to complete my career goals. Although the law school is now closed, I had the privilege to be taught by excellent professors from Harvard, Princeton, UCLA, USC, and other fine prestigious schools.
While in law school, I participated in the Student Bar Association as a 3L Delegate and was a member of Phi Alpha Delta. During my time in law school, I earned four CALI Awards in the areas of Trust and Estates, Family Law, Real Estate Transactions-Finance and Civil Rights Discrimination. The CALI Excellence for the Future Award is given to the highest scoring student in each law school class. In addition to earning Four CALI Awards, I also earned a Pro Bono Certificate for volunteering in various charitable organizations, including Wills for Heroes. I also served on the Law Review team as a Staff Editor. In addition, I was a recipient of the Raul Castro Scholarship for Academic Excellence. Finally, the one award I am most proud of was awarded to me at commencement: I was the sole outstanding graduate to be awarded the Practice Readiness Award.
I turned my law school achievements into a successful law practice and am now practicing law in the areas of trust, estate planning, probate, conservatorships and accident law. I believe that proper estate planning tackles a wide variety of legal issues to protect what really matters to you, your estate! Not only do I help you with your estate planning documents, I also help your loved ones to administer your estate when needed. Whether it is administering a probate, or assisting with trust administration, I work hard to ensure that your wishes are carried out at the appropriate time.
My legal career as a file clerk, legal secretary and paralegal allowed me to work in several legal areas, but one particular area, accident law, allowed me the opportunity to do what I love most: helping others. I have extensive experience working with clients in the area of accident law, car accidents, slip and fall, dog bites, bicycle and motorcycle accidents. I have worked on thousands of cases throughout my legal career and am able to help you navigate your accident claim, should you find yourself injured due to someone else’s negligent acts.
Professionally, I am a member of the State Bar of Arizona, the Maricopa County Association of Family Mediators, the Maricopa County Bar Association and the American Bar Association. I am also admitted to practice law before the Arizona Supreme Court, the Arizona District, the Court of Appeals, for the 9th Circuit, and the US Supreme Court.
As a lawyer, I love to give back to my community and often participate in Wills for Heroes, providing estate plans to our first responders, or, as a volunteer on "The Let Joe Know Show" phone bank, sponsored by The Stare Bar of Arizona. I feel it's important to help others and enjoy helping those who need it most!
Personally, I have been married to my loving husband, David, for 39 years and have three amazing adult children. Presently, I enjoy working with my Keeshond and Pomeranian at my side. And a little fun fact about me: I am also a travel agent! So, whether it is planning a trip, or helping you with your legal needs, I am your everyday family lawyer!
I bring a service based approach to clients in Arizona. I have years of experience in a diverse range of practice areas. I am small enough to offer each client the personalized representation they deserve, but large enough to handle complex, challenging and resource intensive cases.
My goal is to provide accurate, honest and clear guidance. You will be provided with straightforward advice and I will be happy to answer any questions you have. For answers to your specific questions, do not hesitate to contact me for a free consultation.
